General Information & Our Philosophy Surrounding Auditions

The landscape surrounding auditions and hiring in the professional dance world, particularly in the United States, could be improved. We are working to actively change that by embodying our mission, ‘be a good partner,’ even with prospective hires. Here is how we do that:
Request dancers remove weight and age from their resumes before applying — this is not important for us to know when looking to hire a candidate.
Provide multiple interviews before inviting candidates to Grand Rapids to audition. We want to ensure both parties are excited to move forward with the interview and audition process before the prospective employee has to take time off work to visit our studios.
We will cover the travel cost, lodging, and provide a per diem for the prospective hire when they join us in Grand Rapids to audition. This is a norm in many industries that we would like to see implemented for dancers as well.
Company Dancer Position Description:
Year-round, part-time salaried position (no layoff periods)
Physical Therapy
Pointe and flat shoes covered
Performances year-round
Touring opportunities
Must be willing to relocate to Grand Rapids, MI
Start date is determined based on the new hire’s availability and relocation to Grand Rapids, MI.
